URA + SofIA: Lesson URA and SofIA assistants

Resource · not graded
What you bring
From Lesson 7 (Where did you go?): your product, your glossary and «I can use was and were.»
What this prepares you for
The forum asks you to use Irregular past + did questions with your classmates.

Goal of the lesson

I can describe places I visited and activities I did.

Puedo describir lugares que visité y actividades que hice.

The URA has the explanation, audio, examples by career and the Cultural Corner of the I PAC. Take notes: you will use them in the forum.

Irregular past + did questions

Irregular: go → went · see → saw · eat → ate · take → took · buy → bought. Questions: Did you go…? What did you do? Negative: didn't + verb.

Example
Irregular +We went to the museum and saw dinosaurs.
−We didn't take a taxi.
?Did you eat local food? — Yes, I did.
Wh-?Where did you stay? What did you buy?
En español

Con «did» y «didn't» el verbo vuelve a su forma base: «Did you see…?» (no «Did you saw»).

Your AI assistants: SofIA

Recommended for this lesson: SofIA Gramatical, about irregular past verbs and did questions. SofIA asks your name, your career and your lesson, then helps you step by step. It explains, gives hints and helps you create your own mini-lesson, flashcards or practice. It never does graded work for you.

Language bridge · plurilingual and intercultural

Use every language you know to learn English, and use English to understand other people.

English ↔ SpanishNotice the difference

Questions with did use the base form: Did you go? (not «did you went»).

Other languagesFrench · Portuguese · Italian · German

English and German are «cousins»: go–went / gehen–ging · drink–drank / trinken–trank.

Observe, compare, reflectIntercultural

Places important to Indigenous peoples, like Haida Gwaii (Canada) or Copán (Honduras), have rules for visitors. Find one and explain why it matters.

Mediation challengeBuild a bridge for someone

Read a classmate's travel log and draw the route on a map for another classmate.

Your languages count: ask at home or in your community how to say it in Garífuna, Miskitu, the English of the Bay Islands or any other language you know, and add it to your glossary. Add it to «My languages» in your Passport →
